8th Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival
The scenic valley of Tegernsee, with its lake nestled at the foot of picturesque mountains,
will for the eighth time host the annual Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival in October 2010.
This festival is supported by the ‘Deutscher Alpenverein’ (German Alpine Club), ‘Bayerischer Rundfunk’ (Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation) and ‘Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH’.
The patron of the event is Dr. Heiner Geissler, former secretary for youth, family and health in
Germany – who has been an active alpinist for decades.
The festival’s premiere in 2003 and its annual repeats have been attracting entries from
around the world.
In 2009, nearly 6000 guests were able to enjoy them.
The Tegernsee Mountain Film Festival is a competitive international event, bringing the best films on mountains and their spirit of adventure to the heart of the Bavarian Alps.
The festival provides a forum for filmmakers to meet and exchange ideas.
Festival Dates
October 20 - 24, 2010
The festival accepts films depicting any aspect of life in the mountains.
Entries are judged in the following categories:
- Mountain Experience – Alpinism, Mountain Sports, Adventure
- Mountain Nature – Landscape and Environment
- Mountain Life – Culture and Science
- Extra: Trend Sports in the Mountains
The ‘Großer Preis der Stadt Tegernsee’ (€ 3000) will be awarded for the best film of the categories Mountain Experience, Mountain Nature, Mountain Life. The prize by the "Deutscher Alpenverein" (German Alpine Club) (€ 1.000) goes to the best film in the category "Mountain Experience". There will be three first prizes (1.000 € each) in the categories Mountain Nature, Mountain Life and Extra: Trend Sports in the Mountains. A prize (€ 1.000) will be awarded for the best film by a junior film maker (under 32 years of age).
Deadline for entries is May 31, 2010. No entry fees!
